Stand united for Addiction Awareness

Educating yourself about addiction is one of the best ways to arm yourself in the fight against it. Why? Because you’ll be able to recognize the signs and seek help for someone in need before it’s too late.

Breaking Barriers is the education arm of Hope United. This comprehensive program focuses on raising awareness about the dangers of opiate use to students, parents and communities.

Primarily through speaking engagements, the Breaking Barriers program explains how drug and alcohol addiction is a disease, not a moral failure. We have talked to thousands of students throughout Northeast Ohio, and have provided keynote speakers for community events, church functions, conventions and panel discussions across the country.

HOPE UNITED is available to speak at your school or organization. Get in contact with us today to schedule a talk.

We are excited to partner with Addiction Policy Forum on Protect Your Brain, a new education and awareness campaign featuring videos that teach teens how to protect themselves from substance use disorder.

PROTECT YOUR BRAIN

During the ages of 10-19, the brain is changing rapidly. Because of this, it’s extremely important to protect your brain. In this video, learn four strategies teens can use to protect their brains and stay safe from substance use disorders.

MIND YOUR GENES

It has been shown that genetics account for 50% of a person’s likelihood of developing an addiction, however, the risk is also influenced by individual choices. In this video, adolescents learn how to mind their genes to avoid developing an addiction.

AGE MATTERS

Research shows that 90% of people with a substance use disorder began using drugs and alcohol before the age of 18. In this video, teens will learn the importance of protecting their brain from substance use disorders by delaying the age of first use.
