A MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
SHELLY BORNSTEIN
Watching Tyler’s Redemption Place grow over the past year has been exciting. We are building a culture of love, support, and encouragement for those in recovery and their families. It is sometimes hard to believe how many people we see come through and all the programming that has transpired. Still, we feel truly blessed to offer many opportunities to grow and connect. We genuinely love hearing so many inspirational stories of success and healing because of their experience at Tyler’s Redemption Place.
So many volunteers and donors who give their time and treasure in many ways continue to bless us daily. We honestly could not do what we do without their support, and for this, we are grateful.
Through our free drop-in peer support, we have helped so many get needed detox, treatment, housing, and resources. We are grateful to the Summit County ADM Board, which supports us in our programming, and all the donors and families who have helped us build this incredible Recovery Community Organization. Amazing things are happening every day, and we are excited to see how we grow over the next year.

READ HOW TYLER’S REDEMPTION PLACE IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
Meet Pat
It wasn’t until the veteran’s court I participated in started a fitness group that I made it in (to Tyler’s Redemption Place) and I am so grateful it did because it changed my life.
Tyler’s Redemption Place treated all the things in my life that I was missing. The gym has brought me back physically, the groups brought me back spiritually and the staff have brought back the community that I have been missing for so long. Tyler’s Redemption Place treat the whole disease of addiction, and they do it with a warm heart. They sincerely care about the individual struggling and foster an environment of love and compassion. My recovery has brought me back from a hopeless state of mind. I have freedom now and have rebuilt relationships I thought I never deserved or would have again. All it took was me surrendering and reaching out. Now I have a life of bliss and hope I never dreamed I would reach. I have to keep working on my recovery for the rest of my life but taking it one day at a time and Tyler’s Redemption Place makes that possible.
Meet Jill
I am beyond blessed to be able to share how Tyler’s Redemption Place has impacted my life. I have been coming here for over a year for meetings and a bible study. There are so many fun events to go to. This is an amazing place where I know I’m supported and loved. The staff has been there for me for peer support, searching for jobs, sponsorship, and friendship. The volunteers are amazing as well! I always look forward to walking through the door and seeing all the smiling faces. Even on hard days people can come here for support and understanding. I’ve come a long way in my journey of recovery, and I didn’t do it alone. I have everyone at Tyler’s and my family to thank.❤️
Meet Christian
I have been coming to Tyler’s Redemption Place since February. I was coming here to use their gym. What kept me coming back was the staff and the community. For me, it is hard to involve myself into most recovery community’s but here at TRP, they’ve showed nothing but love, compassion & empathy. The staff here is extremely personable & will get down in the dirt with you to help you find a solution. Having this resource has benefited my overall well-being, not only my recovery!
Meet Beth
Before I discovered Tyler’s Redemption Place, I had many unhealthy coping skills. Tyler’s Place has given me a purpose to wake up on Saturday mornings to attend
Martha’s bible study. In that bible study, I have grown closer to God but also, I have made friends who are just like me! I have gained a SOBER circle of support! In addition, I have relaxed in the salt cave, played pool and attended game night with my son, and attended a paint and pour art class with my daughter. I have attended a few cardio drumming sessions, yoga, and AA meetings. I have met with my sponsor in the library for a quiet place to talk.
The most important thing about Tyler’s is that I know it's a safe place to drop in when I need to be around positive, sober people. Thank you, Shelly, Travis, and Tyler for changing my life!"

WHAT IS HAPPENING?
There is a flurry of activity going on at Tyler’s Redemption Place throughout any given week. Here are some of the things happening at the RCO:
We have 9 recovery meetings weekly, four regular wellness classes, a chess club weekly, monthly game night, monthly pizza between meetings, pop-up wellness classes, art programs, meetings and social events, sports watch parties, breath work, sound baths, weekly men’s mentorship, art therapy, bible studies, and Recovery Month events.
We recently held a baking class - our very first class in “Zach’s Kitchen”! And the 3R Foundation led a financial class to help individuals learn how to manage their money effectively. We are expanding services for veterans that include a veteran-specific VR program, a veteran meeting, and a focus on wellness. Additionally, we have recently introduced virtual reality headsets for recovery - users can travel the world, meditate, or just have fun. The VR headsets are evidence-based and can be effective for managing mental health including PTSD, anxiety and depression, overcoming phobias, and developing healthy coping skills.
CONNECTING THROUGH SOCIAL
Our social media presence is essential for Tyler’s Redemption Place, serving as a vital platform for raising awareness, fostering community, and sharing resources. It creates a supportive environment for individuals in recovery and their families, encouraging open conversations about substance use disorder. By sharing information about our programs and success stories, we connect with a broader audience, reduce stigma, and promote healing. Our goal is to educate our followers and their connections that recovery happens together.

PARKING AND STORAGE CAMPAIGN
Hope United led a grassroots effort to raise funding for an additional parking lot and a storage barn. We received many generous individual and business donations, including a $10,000 anonymous donation, $25,000 from the VFW Post 8975, and several families raising money through fundraisers they hosted.
Gratefully, we have raised enough to put in the additional parking lot with lighting to accommodate the growing number of visitors during busier times at the RCO. We are continuing to raise funds for a storage barn that will help us store many outdoor items used for events, a mower that was generously donated, and supplies for community service days. To date, we have raised $137,000 towards the campaign!
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Tyler’s Redemption Place has a Volunteer Program Director, Martha Hyland, and over 90 volunteers who help with yardwork, maintenance, greeting, baking, cleaning, leading, events staff, guitar lessons, etc. We are proud of how we have built such a strong volunteer program.
In addition, generous donations of supplies such as coffee, creamers, paper towels, and other needed supplies are such a blessing to Tyler’s Redemption Place! We have been able to serve thousands of cups of coffee this past year! And we have created a warm, welcoming environment thanks to the generosity of so many! Thank you so much to everyone who donated supplies throughout the year!!
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Hope United is committed to fostering awareness and support for the recovery community through various outreach events. We strive to educate individuals about the resources available at Tyler’s Redemption Place for those on their recovery journey and the families impacted by a substance use disorder. We share valuable information and build connections by getting out in the community. Our goal of community outreach is to empower the community, reduce stigma, and most importantly, to inspire hope. We strive to ensure everyone has the support they need for long-term recovery.
REACHING HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE
THROUGH OUTREACH EVENTS
BREAKING THE STIGMA
Every day, Hope United continues to help reduce stigma by hosting trainings, inviting churches to volunteer and share with them, and hosting tours almost daily. These tours allow us to share stories about addiction as a disease and our needs in the community.
We have also been able to bring many in from the community who might not otherwise come by offering salt cave sessions for a small fee to the public, renting space at the RCO to like-minded organizations, and also rentals for personal use for those impacted by a substance use disorder, such as birthdays, showers, calling hours, etc.
NEW VETERAN PROGRAM
Thanks to an expansion grant through Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services, we have expanded our programming to include services for veterans impacted by a substance use disorder. We kicked off the program with our first veteran event - a Memorial Day March to honor our fallen service members and also raise awareness to veteran suicide, mental health, and addiction.
Our veteran program focuses on enhancing wellness and recovery support for those who have served our country. Veterans often face unique challenges related to mental health, substance use, and reintegration into civilian life.
Hope United hired a part-time Veteran Program Director to lead the program. We acquired a veteran-specific Virtual Reality program, TST-VR at The Retreat that is 17 sessions to help twenty veterans. This innovative platform, which utilizes Transcending Self Therapy (TST), a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, is designed to help veterans overcome substance use disorder by transforming negative thoughts and behaviors.
Our program is comprehensive, offering a range of support. We began a Veteran Recovery Meeting and weekly men's mentorship classes. We are increasing our wellness programming for veterans to include a cold plunge, infrared sauna, and outdoor veteran workout equipment. Additionally, we have partnered with The Summit County Valor Court to support the veterans in their program. The veteran program at Tyler's Redemption Place is open to any veteran needing recovery support.
FAITH
At Hope United and Tyler's Redemption Place, our faith is not just a personal belief, but a community value that we live out every day. We show love and compassion to all who come to our Recovery Community Organization, valuing each individual's unique journey. Our community is integral to our mission, and we love people right where they are.
Our offerings include mentorships, one-on-ones, and bible studies, all designed to help individuals grow in their faith if they choose. We collaborate with multiple churches to allow God's love to shine through, providing numerous opportunities for growth. Every aspect of Tyler's Redemption Place is steeped in prayer, a testament to our unwavering reliance on Him. We are continually amazed at the Lord's work through tragedy, perseverance, and our faith in Him. To Him, we give all Praise and Glory.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we DO NOT GIVE UP. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people.”
