FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
SALT CAVE AT THE CABIN FAQs:
What is salt therapy?
According to the Salt Therapy Association, “Halotherapy is a Dry Salt Therapy that utilizes a halogenerator to grind and crush 99.99% Pure Grade Sodium Chloride (salt) into micronized particles that are dispersed into the salt cave via a dry salt aerosol that works to aid respiratory concerns and skin conditions.”
How does salt therapy work?
Dry pharmaceutical grade salt is heated and then it is ground and crushed into very tiny microparticles in a machine called a halogenerator. These dry aerosol microparticles of salt are then dispersed into the salt cave during a session. As you relax, the microparticles are inhaled. The particles penetrate deep into the lungs, bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli. Bacteria and pollutants are dissolved as salt enters the lungs and respiratory system by eliminating mucous and opening constricted airways.

The only people who should avoid salt therapy are those with severe chronic respiratory issues and those with open wounds and sores. It is advisable that people going into a salt chamber remove all personal jewelry, glasses and other belongings since salt can be corrosive to exposed metal.

ADDITIONAL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Infrared Sauna FAQs
1. What is an infrared sauna?
An infrared sauna uses infrared light to generate heat, warming your body directly rather than heating the air around you. This allows for a more comfortable experience while still providing deep therapeutic benefits.
2. What are the benefits of using an infrared sauna?
Infrared saunas can promote relaxation, improve circulation, help with detoxification, support muscle recovery, and reduce stress. Many users also report improved skin health and better sleep.
3. What is the difference between an infrared sauna and traditional saunas?
Traditional saunas use heated air or steam to warm the body, typically reaching 160-200°F (71-93°C). Infrared saunas, on the other hand, use infrared light to penetrate the skin and heat the body directly at lower temperatures (120-150°F (49-65°C)). This allows for a more efficient sweat session with less discomfort while still providing detoxification and relaxation benefits.
4. What should I bring for my infrared sauna session?
It’s a good idea to bring the following items:
A towel to sit on – This helps absorb sweat and keeps the sauna clean.
A towel for drying off afterward – You may sweat a lot, so having a dry towel is helpful.
Water bottle – Staying hydrated is important before and after your session.
Light, breathable clothing or swimwear – Wear something comfortable for your session, or bring an additional towel to wrap up in. Many people choose to wear as little as possible for maximum heat exposure.
5. How hot does an infrared sauna get?
Infrared saunas typically operate between 120-150°F (49-65°C), which is lower than traditional saunas but still effective for heat therapy.
6. How long should a session last?
A typical session lasts 20-45 minutes, depending on individual preferences and experience. Beginners should start with shorter sessions and gradually increase their duration.
7. Is an infrared sauna safe for everyone?
While generally safe, individuals with medical conditions such as heart problems or pregnancy should consult a doctor before use.
8. How often should I use an infrared sauna?
Many people use an infrared sauna 3-5 times per week, but frequency depends on personal health goals and tolerance.
